More hats!

Well, my goal was NOT to make more hats this week, but I wanted to try a new pattern for babies and toddlers. I am so glad I did. This pattern sews up very quickly and is too cute. There will be a few more warm babies and happy mothers this winter! You can find the pattern on the Purl Soho website.

Stitching Staycation 2018

The stitching staycation is underway--although off to a slow start since my husband and I have been trading sicknesses since Christmas. I have too much planned and didn't have time to sort through it all like I wanted to to create a real workshop environment. Even so, I have already accomplished one of my goals for the week, which was to sew up a baker's dozen worth of children's hats for charity. I had these hats cut out already and over two days was able to stitch them up. The pattern is free from Crafty Gemini and comes in two sizes--for toddlers and for older children/adults. It sews together well. With 3 1/4 yards of fabric I made 6 small and 7 large hats, and I have 3 more yards for girls hats--although I don't think they will be made up this week.

Tomorrow I have to work, but during the rest of the week I will work on a wedding sampler for a friend, sew up a muslin of a vest I would like to make for my husband, cut out a bag for myself and transfer an embroidery design to the pocket. I also want to work on a few Craftsy lessons I have, although I have been having trouble choosing which one! I even have stitching entertainment planned. On Friday, my husband and I will be going to the opening of Phantom Thread. I also just got a new book on stumpwork that I am looking forward to reading. It is going to be a great week.

Happy New Year!

It has been a great year, but a lousy year for stitching. In 2017, I finally made it home permanently. No more commuting between Denver and Rhode Island! But instead of giving me more time for stitching, I found that a slew of volunteer work was waiting for me as I became more engaged with my community. We have been busier than ever. But 2018 is on its way and I am planning my annual stitching staycation, which was cancelled last year due to the move. I will share this week some of the things I hope to work on in the coming year. In the meantime, Happy New Year!

I was so busy in 2017, I didn't even take photos of most of my projects. Here are a few of the scant projects I did complete.
